PAST EVENTS

In this session, I critiqued a video from one of the creators in the Million View Club community to demonstrate simple mistakes that dramatically hinder performance. Here are the takeaways:
Ensure correct shot length. When dealing with a simple shot, creators need to show a shot for 0.5 -1 second. If it is a complex shot, the viewer needs 1-3 seconds to properly process the shot to prevent cognitive overload.
Use 7 types of reactions to eliminate repetitiveness and stalling in videos. The reaction types are emotional, analytical, descriptive, conclusive, contextual, elevating, and comedic reactions. Combine these reactions to engage your viewers.
Check your music is not overpowering. If your music is too loud, it can disrupt the experience for the viewer.
…. and 5 other takeaways from the live session (for MVC members only)

These next 10 rules will help with audience retention by making sure you don’t alienate your audience or give them content they didn’t want.
